Exciting News from Feed My People

Dear Friends,

Food is what it’s all about. The last few years have been challenging to all of us for many reasons. Inflation and food supply chain issues have created a significant decrease in donated food nationwide causing food banks like FMP to purchase more of their food. This affects us all, including you.

Here’s the good news!

  • We are rolling out our new Farm to Food Bank initiative to connect directly with area farmers and food suppliers to obtain more regional and local food. This creates a more sustainable, long-term source for produce, meat, and dairy by shortening the food supply chain with a goal of fresher food and lower costs.
  • Look for some great product to be coming in including corn, apples, potatoes, chicken, cheese, and much more.
  • We will be announcing our new Produce Lottery program in the next few days.
  • As of September 1, the cost of fresh produce will be subsidized by FMP making it free when possible and never more than .20/lb.

This is a work in process, but please know that we are listening to you! We are working hard to find solutions to make more nutritious food available free or at a significantly reduced cost for your program. Look for more information as we go!

Please reach out to us any time. We love talking with you and need to hear more about your challenges and your successes.

I cannot say THANK YOU enough for all you do.
