Vestry Meeting Highlights – August 2020
Zoom Meeting August 17 2020 6:00 p.m.
Columbarium: The Vestry unanimously approved moving the Bundy Hall Columbarium to the back of the chapel. A committee was formed to develop plans for the new outdoor columbarium. The committee members are Deb Lorenze, Missy Stepanek and Diane Bilderback. CCC has a moral and ethical responsibility to use the money that people have given to this fund to create a long term plan that would include the new columbarium and landscaping.
Financials: Our income is on target, expenses are in line with the budget. We have repaid a portion of our debt to the Diocese. The endowment has earned some income, and we have not taken any draw from these funds. We continue to wait for instruction on applying for forgiveness of the PPP loan.
Vestry Check In: The Vestry continues to check in with people as part of our Christian ministry to reach out to others so that we can stay connected. There is a real fallout from the current pandemic and it is imperative that we touch base with our fellow parishioners.
New Office Equipment: The new laptop, and software has been installed.
Reopening in person worship: The discussion and debate on reopening in person worship continues. Fr. Benjamin will write a letter to the parish and Alan Worthey will put together questions for a parish survey.
Develop a timeline for Dean search: The Dean search has been on hold since the beginning of the pandemic. The Vestry decided to move ahead with completing the parish profile and putting together a compensation package that we can afford. The Vestry believes in the moral obligation to make the endowment whole again. If the PPP loan is forgiven that amount should be deposited to the endowment. The Vestry made a commitment to repay the endowment and to look each month for monies that can be used to work towards that goal.
Snow blower: Our current snow blower needs to be replaced. A motion was made and passed unanimously to purchase a snow blower within the budget of $700-$1000.
