Dorothy Owen Funeral

Dorothy Haight Owen (nee Haight) passed away Saturday, February 9. She died peacefully at 3 in the afternoon. She was 99 years old.

She was born in New York City to Rev. John Sylvanus Haight, the pastor of St. George‘s Episcopal Church in Hempstead, NY and his wife Grace Haight (nee Keenen) on November 7, 1919.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art and French at William Smith College in Geneva, NY in 1940.

It was there that she met the love of her life, David Boardman Owen of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. They were married in Hempstead on October 3, 1940.

After WWII, they moved to Eau Claire were the settled and raised a family of four boys.

She is survived by three sons, David B. Owen, Jr. (Eau Claire, WI), Peter H. Owen, (Winthrop Harbor, IL), Christopher R. Owen (deceased), Philip C. Owen (Eau Claire, WI), eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 15th here at Christ Church Cathedral, 510 S. Farwell St., Eau Claire, WI. Visitation will begin at 10 AM and funeral service will start at 11 AM followed by a light luncheon.
