Prayer Shawl Ministry Scarf Collection for Luke 3:11 Project & January Meeting
It’s that time of year where we all need extra outer winter clothing. Thinking of those in need, the Prayer Shawl Ministry is currently knitting winter scarves to donate to the Luke 3:11 Project from Mondovi, WI. They collect and distribute winter outerwear, quilts, boots, backpacks, and toiletries throughout the Chippewa Valley. They travel to food pantries in Plum city, Durand, Ama, Pep and, Mondovi, Osseo, Augusta, Fall Creek, Fairchild, Eau Claire, Whitehall, Chippewa Falls, and Bloomer. At these pantries they distribute donated items to people in need who are financially unable to purchase them on their own.
Our perish donated to the Luke 3:11 project last year and they were so grateful! If you’d like to donate 1-2 knitted or new purchased winter scarves, please bring them to church on our next Prayer Shawl Sunday, January 22. If you’re not able to attend church that day, feel free to drop them off in the parish office.
Our next Prayer Shawl Ministry meeting is Tuesday, January 17 at 6:00PM in the Memorial Lounge. All are welcome to join us. Please join us as we knit
together, share a prayer, and enjoy camaraderie. We always welcome newcomers, even if you are just curious to find out more about our ministry! Bring a set of size 11 knitting needles and 3 skeins of yarn, machine washable/dryable, all in the same color. If you have more experience you may wish to purchase 3 skeins of Homespun Yarn, machine washable/dryable, all in the same color. If you don’t have experience with knitting, we will teach you how to make a prayer shawl. Our meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of each month, September-May.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry’s love and prayers are woven into each shawl as they are created. We give our shawls as a gift of love and concern for those who need solace or thanksgiving as well as for a blessing of celebration.
All are welcome! Please join us and feel free to bring a friend. Thank you!
