Vestry Highlights

Here’s what your Vestry has been up to lately:

New Treasurer: It is bittersweet as we say goodbye to Connie Dubiel and welcome back Chris Chouinard as Treasurer. Connie provided well organized and documented instructions and we expect a smooth transition.

502 S. Farwell Update: The building is listed for sale with Ned Donnellan and there has been some interest. We continue to struggle with safety and security issues, not unlike many downtown establishments. We are working on a collaborative conversation for possible solutions.

Financials: At the end of May 2023 offerings for the month and year-to-date are both over budget. After being at a deficit for the first four months of the year. We are over budget by $9,000 on a year-to-date basis. Rental income is also over budget this month and year-to-date due to an advance payment of the parking lot rental from the City. Expenses are over budget year to date due to the following: parish administrator and sexton wages, boiler maintenance contract billed 2 months late (2022 invoices billed in 2023); WWR Environmental Services clean-up; Wilson Building door repairs. Expense savings in Heating costs offset a portion of the overages.

Mission & Outreach: If you are looking for a way to get involved and give back to the community, we are always looking for volunteers to help support our Needful Things Personal Care Pantry which is open the last Saturday of every month. We also have a standing opportunity to serve at The Community Table on odd numbered months – watch for details and requests in the weekly e-newsletter.

Buildings and Grounds: Water softener has been installed by Culligan – $4,464. Cleaning the rain gutters – the quote came in at $2K. This is not in the budget currently. New glass was installed in the door to the Wilson Building – $970+. Insurance did not pay – deductible is $2500. Boiler insurance inspection coming soon. Wi-Fi & outlets needed for live stream were out on Sunday & have been unreliable. Breakers potentially tripped. Computer Wizards coming to evaluate. Tim McManus is going to hard wire one camera this week. New pavers were installed – looks great!
