Welcome to our new Choir Director: Kate Larson

This fall, we have been blessed to enjoy the vast knowledge and talent of Bill Smith as our Interim Choir Director. Bill has brought new members into the choir and shared his love o music history with them, helping the choir grow both in knowledge and love of music. Bill originally agreed to take this position through Advent, and we are excited to announce Kate Larson as our new Choir Director. Kate’s official service begins with Lessons and Carols this Sunday, December 29th at 9:00 a.m. Here’s a little bit about Kate: she’s a native of Altoona, Wisconsin and holds a M.A. in Music Education from the University of St. Thomas and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Education from St. Olaf College. Kate taught high school choir for 11 years, and was honored as the Outstanding Young Choral Director of the year by the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota in 2014. She recently founded a community choir called Chorale à NouvEAU. Based in Eau Claire, Chorale à NouvEAU is thrilled to follow Kate and call Christ Church Cathedral it’s home! Since moving back to the Eau Claire area where she grew up, Kate has taken time off from teaching to enjoy more time with her three small children and joys of her life, Emily, Henry, and Annika, and her husband Rick. She is thrilled to begin a new journey with Christ Church Cathedral and looks forward to serving this wonderful congregation
