Stewardship: Pledge Card Sunday
The one place every member can make a big difference is in faithful, ongoing support. I am told that a major emphasis to increase pledging last year was a great success – thank you! If you raised your pledge last year, I would ask you to consider how that pledge changed your life? Did God bless you well beyond everything you gave? I’d be willing to bet the answer is “Yes!” If you do not yet give 10% of your income, please, consider raising your pledge toward that goal. I have committed to giving 10% of my salary as your interim priest toward reaching this goal, and I have asked the Vestry and Deacons to join me in this act of faithful leadership.
I love this community, and I am committed to helping you begin your next chapter as the body of Christ. There is a wonderful spirit of love for one another and an eagerness to move forward in ministry. I believe great things will yet come to this Cathedral. Please remember, we are God’s partners in the work of stewardship. Jesus said, “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you” (John 15:15). What an honor Jesus has bestowed on us – to call us his friends and to allow us to be part of his “business!”
When we give of ourselves, our resources, our time, and our money, we are only returning to God the gifts that he has given us to manage for him. Please complete and bring the enclosed card with you to church by Sunday, October 20, 2019 or return it any time before then to the church office.
